After months (and yes, even years) of planning and preparation, work has finally begun at the site of the new Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter!
The Emergency Shelter Building will initially have rooms for 48 children, and will house administrative offices, classrooms and other education space. As separate office and education buildings are added in later phases, those areas will be converted to resident rooms, increasing capacity to 72.
The Recreation Center will include multi-purpose and meeting rooms, plus a gymnasium, providing much-needed indoor activity and play space which is very limited in the current facility.
